Round 3

Hello,

So, tomorrow my mom is about to undergo round 3 of chemo with this particular drug. For the most part after getting over the hurdle of the first week of treatment she has done well. Aside from being tired she has managed to get over the joint pain she had last week.

We were even able to make a short trip to Corpus Christi this past weekend. My work had me there conducting financial aid appointments so, my mom came along for the ride. We had a good time and I think she was able to rest some.

My mom went to have a sonogram of her liver yesterday and her other major organs to insure everything is functioning properly. The Doctor called and her liver count was elevated. It could just be another side effect of the chemo, but the doctor is very pro-active and wants to insure no rock is left unturned. I will certainly keep you posted on the findings. She has an appointment with the Doctor in the morning just before chemo so, we should know the results at that time.

Race for the Cure is right around the corner. I can't believe its already here. We have a team of 15 participants and have raised some good money. There is still time to donate and support our team.

I am looking forward to seeing the "sea of pink" the women and men who will be wearing the pink shirts the day of the race are survivors. My mom is included in this group because according to the site "If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you are considered a Survivor, no matter where you might be in the course of your treatment." Which makes sense! Before the Race, Survivors are encouraged to gather outside the Pink Hat Café for the special tribute to Survivors. A military procession will lead the ladies (and men!) in pink to the stage and let me tell you this is a very emotional and amazing site. My hope is it will be a truly uplifting experience, not just for my mom but for all of us who are supporting her through her journey.

As always thank you for your prayers! My grandfather always said prayer is prayer, being Catholic he wanted everyone to know he took prayer wherever it came from. These are my sentiments exactly!
